Thanks to you, my younger brother is alive and well. He spent time in your
program recovering and stabilizing. He was eventually diagnosed with bi-polar
disorder. Now he is an established and successful attorney. He uses the knowledge
and skills your program taught him every day. In fact, since he is working with
the court systems, he has been able to help others who are dually-diagnosed.
He has advocated for drug programs for some of his clients who would
otherwise be sent to jail. He is very sensitive to the needs of substance abusers
who, like himself, just needed to find the right help. Thank you so much for
helping our family get our wonderful brother back. Your program is very
special. I wish there were more outstanding programs like yours.

I have been to a handful of residential and outpatient treatment centers
focusing on drug addiction and I have also been admitted several times to
psychiatric wards. I am bi-polar and a drug addict. These two conditions, I
have discovered, cannot be dealt with one at a time. They play off of each other
and must be dealt with simultaneously. That is exactly what Lifeskills does. I am
under the care of an excellent psychiatrist who specializes in dual-diagnosis
treatment. My bi-polar has never been controlled so well. As I said, I have been
to many other drug addiction treatments and I can honestly say that this place
is the best that Ive been to at teaching about the disease of addiction and also
at teaching me coping skills to deal with that disease. There are also groups that
incorporate both mental illness and addiction into just one discussion which is
something I have never experienced before, and something which I find
extremely helpful. I guess the most comforting thing about this place is that we
are all dual-diagnosis patients here so I get better input from the staff and even
from the patients in groups than I did from peers in past treatment centers. I
could go on, but Ill just say that I am doing the best Ive ever done and I feel
more physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually healthy than I ever have.

I just wanted to write you a note to tell you what a fantastic job I think you
are doing! Lifeskills has me so much in the 2 months I have been here! I find all
the staff to be wonderful. Very well educated on the subject matter, compassionate
and skilled at delivering the material. Perhaps what I have found most helpful is
the emphasis placed on the dual-diagnoses. I have never been to a treatment
center (and I have been to 5) that works so well with the mental illness. I know
my OCD has kept me drinking for years and I feel that finally, here, I am
getting some help looking at the OCD and how it impacts my drinking. This
is such a relief. Painful, but still a relief. Thank you once again.

This was the most important and helpful interaction with my son - EVER!!!

Even though my daughters discharge date was two months away I was
already becoming anxious about having her at home. Family Weekend has
relieved my anxiety by both giving me a chance to see how my daughter has
blossomed and by giving me coping skills and the understanding of what she
can be.

Thank you for helping my family to heal. This is the best program of its
kind I have ever seen. The program has made me a better person and
family member.

While I approached the Family Weekend with some concern, I left with the
reality that it was one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. It did
many things; it put me in much better touch with my daughter (who is
currently at Lifeskills); it put me in much better touch with my family (my
wife and my son traveled with me to the Family Weekend); and it put me in
much better touch with myself. The staff did a wonderful job of running the
sessions, and the other families really responded. It actually seemed easier to
discuss our issues with the support of the other families. |
